A powertrain is a system of components inside a vehicle that propel it forward, by transferring the energy from the engine to the wheels. This includes the engine, transmission (gear box), drive shaft, differential and axles.
Powertrains and cutaway models are often built by AML as a training aid for apprentices and engineers. They give a view of an Aston Martin not normally seen.
The 4-door Rapide had a far longer powertrain length than the previous VH cars. This 2013 rolling chassis consists of the 470 bhp V12 engine from the DB9, steering rack, column and steering wheel, transmission & differential unit, 6 speed gearbox, prop shaft, front & rear brake and suspension assembly and exhaust system.
