Visit to Vaughtons – The official badge maker of Aston Martin

The AMHT team and volunteers took a trip to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham to visit Vaughtons to see first hand, how the iconic Aston Martin “wings” are made.

Nick Hobbis, Managing Director showed us around the factory so we could see for ourselves what’s involved in creating these precision quality handcrafted car badges. We were amazed at how many processes are involved at creating each individual badge and the stringent quality controls checks that are in place every step of the way.

Vaughtons is a family company founded over 200 years ago and it was a pleasure to see these traditional values and techniques still very much at the heart of the business. The skilled team were happy to engage and answer any questions and we were even lucky enough to have a go at enamelling some of the badges, although our attempts were politely put into the “to be reworked” pile.

Vaughtons do much more than car badges, from Olymipic medals to Royal Warrants. They are company to be admired not just for their quality products but also their ethos and integrity. Here’s a few photos from the day!

Vaughtons – Great British Craftmanship since 1819 – We have one aim; to supply superb quality products delivered on time, with standards of service others find hard to match.
