The Aston Martin Heritage Festival celebrated 30 years of the DB7 last August at the British Motor Museum. The AMHT showcased numerous DB7s, including some special editions and one-offs. The event was a chance for visitors to experience the passion and heritage of Aston Martin through the cars, the people, and the stories.
This is the second of a series of interviews from the Festival, and we were thrilled to introduce Ian Callum on stage. As the designer of the DB7, he acknowledged that it was his first number one hit album. Wayne Scott, the main host, interviewed Ian on stage. They talked about Ian’s move from Ford to TWR and his collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw. They also discussed the origins of the DB7 and whether it was originally designed as a Jaguar. Ian also shared his initial reluctance to redesign the car for the DB7 Vantage. And finally – is it actually a XJS underneath? There’s a lot more to discover in this interview.
As we look ahead to the New Year, Garry catches up with Mike Stark to chat about the Aston Hill Climb 100 Celebration happening on May 17, 2025. The hill climb is the birthplace of part of the Aston Martin name. Aston Hill, located near Aston Clinton in Bucks, was the stage for some of the country’s most prestigious hill climb events from 1904 to 1925. It was a hub for famous drivers and motorcycle riders. To mark this special occasion, there will be several related events. Mike gives us a sneak peek at what’s in store.
