In this episode, Steve Waddingham and Tom Wood go to the home of Jim and Bruce Young. Jim has been an Aston Martin owner since 1956, having first seen the car that he went on to buy (and still owns) during WW2
Jim has been repairing and restoring these cars ever since, eventually joined by his son Bruce. Jim served as an AMOC committee member during the 1960s before eventually becoming the pre-war Registrar for the club
Jim & Bruce have maintained the club records for the pre-war cars ever since. They hold a file for more or less every 1930s Aston Martin, which usually contains the original factory record cards. Over the decades they have meticulously added to each file, collecting photographs, magazine articles when the cars were featured, plus correspondence etc. These files are invaluable to owners and are an incredible resource for the AMOC and AMHT.
In addition there are many anecdotes including the time when Jim attended the 1959 Le Mans race as a visitor and ended up on the pit wall as an official timekeeper!
