This episode is published on the 15 January 2025, being a happy 112-year anniversary for Aston Martin. Steve Waddingham takes us back to AM roots from the Bamford and Martin days and when the name Aston Martin actually appeared.
With the launch of the new Vantage Roadster today continuing the company two-seater history, Steve revisits Ecurie Bertelli, Aston Martin pre-war specialists, and look back at the importance of Razor Blade, with its importance in record-breaking history.
This episode is in two parts. Part 1 was recorded in early December at Ecurie Bertelli and we discussed the pre-war AM scene in general, before moving on to talk about the famous 1920’s Aston Martin, Razor Blade. At the time of recording, Razor Blade had just been consigned for sale.
Part 2 was recorded in January 2025, taking place at AMLs Stowe test track at Silverstone Circuit, with Razor Blade and with another famous car, the Halford Special. The two cars both belong to the same long-term owner, who has now decided to part with both. We talk about the Halford Special and we also hear Razor Blade running on what was a very cold day (-3 at one point!) causing fuel icing problems for both cars.
We talk to Robert about both cars at Silverstone and hear Razor Blade as it drives out of the pits and onto the AML test track.
