In this episode, Garry Taylor is in conversation with Roger Bennington, the Managing Director of Stratton Motor Company.
Roger’s journey began as a young man, surrounded by cars due to his father’s presence in the motor trade, with several garages in Essex. In 1972, he acquired a modest country garage named Harvey and Duffield, operating under franchises for Austin and Morris. Determined to expand, Roger rebranded the business as Stratton Motor Company.
His passion for Aston Martin led him to be appointed as a service dealer in 1976, and he quickly became a distributor. At one point, Stratton Motor Company was the third largest Aston Martin dealership, and it is now possibly the largest used Aston Martin stockist in the world.
This is a personal story about his passion for Aston Martin and motorsport, including the GT4 racing series, AMOC Championship events, and many others. We also hear about suitcases of cash being exchanged for Lagonda’s in a car park!
It concludes with a brief workshop tour talking to the technicians and restorers.
