In this episode, Garry Taylor is in conversation with Paul Spires, the President of Aston Martin Works Limited.

Starting with an overview of his current role at what is widely known simply as ‘Works’, we look back at his early years dreaming of becoming a racing driver before his move into Aston Martin sales. It is clear from the purchase of his very first Aston Martin while still in his teens – a DB6 for the princely sum of £1,500 – that Aston was obviously in his blood early on.

Through setting up as an independent Aston Martin specialist he progressed to working at HWM and then, ultimately, to joining the team at Works where, as sales manager, he set up a new sales function for the business. The plan was to just stay for two years but, 13 years later, he can’t imagine working anywhere else…

Paul’s passion for motorsport shines through, with previous roles in motorsport management, endurance racing at Le Mans, and more.

It’s a personal story which starts with an ambitious young man keen to make his mark who, today, can proudly say he has done just that by running what is, in effect, a version of Aston Martin within Aston Martin.
