Back in 2003, the Aston Martin DB9 made its grand entrance at the Frankfurt Motor Show, signalling the start of a truly exciting chapter for the company. It was the very first Aston Martin produced at Gaydon and the first to feature the bonded-aluminium VH architecture, which would become the foundation for many future Aston Martins.
In this episode, host Garry Taylor is joined by three guests who bring very different perspectives to the DB9 story:

Together, they explore the history, design and enduring appeal of this elegant V12 grand tourer. The conversation considers the DB9’s development, launch and evolution as the successor to the hugely successful DB7, and the significance of the new Gaydon production facility.
Adam provides an owner’s perspective on living with an early DB9, while Guy and Steve place the DB9 within the wider history of the marque and explains why it represented such a major step forward for Aston Martin.
Production continued until July 2016, encompassing both the Coupé and Volante. Just over 16,500 examples were built, making the DB9 one of the most successful Aston Martins of its time.
The DB9 also provided the foundations for an extraordinary family of cars. Its VH architecture went on to support models including the V8 Vantage, DBS, Rapide, Virage and second-generation Vanquish.
